James Lobdell
Vice President, Power Operations and Resource Planning
Vice president James Lobdell is responsible for Power Operations & Resource Strategy, including all aspects of PGE's short- and long-term energy portfolio such as wholesale power, fuels, marketing, trading and integrated resource planning. Prior to his current position, Lobdell served as vice president of Power Supply/Power Operations and vice president of PGE's Risk Management, Reporting & Control.
Previously, Lobdell served as PGE's senior director of Business Development and vice president for two PGE subsidiaries, Portland General Distribution Co. and Portland General Holdings II. At Portland General Holdings II, Lobdell was responsible for developing strategic investments, structured transactions and acquisitions, fiber optic broadband networks, associated business lines and investments and wireless network business opportunities.
Lobdell joined PGE in 1984 as a business analyst and has held a number of key positions within the company and its affiliates. These include vice president of Finance and Administration for FirstPoint Utility Solutions, director of PGE's Internal Audit Services; manager of PGE's Financial Risk Management & Pricing, where he provided financial risk management for PGE's wholesale electric and natural gas portfolios. He has also served as treasurer for Tule Hub Services Co.; manager for Commercial Group Accounting for Portland General Holdings; project manager for Columbia Willamette Development Co.; and supervisor of Accounting Operations for Portland General Corp.
Lobdell earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon in 1984 and is a Certified Managerial Accountant.
Lobdell serves on the board for Pacific Northwest Utilities Conference Committee, is a member of the BPA Collaborative Committee, is the treasurer/secretary for the WSPP, Inc., and serves on several regional and state energy-related committees. He is also a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and board member of the Oregon Wave Energy Trust. He resides in Sherwood with his wife, Barbara, and their two children.
