Joe McArthur

As vice president of Transmission at PGE, Joe McArthur oversees development of long-term plans for transmission, which includes strategies to support the many new renewable resources under development by the company to support the Oregon Renewable Energy Standard. His division includes Transmission & Reliability, Transmission Projects, Research Coordination, Labor Relations, and Distribution Safety. McArthur has vast experience in strategic planning, business development and distribution operations and has worked in service design, regional planning, system planning, distribution standards, and customer service & marketing. During more than a decade as a member of the PGE officer team, McArthur has overseen some of the company's largest areas, including Customer Service and Distribution.

McArthur joined PGE in 1972 and spent the early years of his career as an engineer with Estimating and Distribution Planning. He went on to manage and supervise several areas in PGE's distribution operations, including Estimating, Substation Maintenance, Metering and System Planning. McArthur managed PGE's Western Region before being named vice president in 1997.

A 1969 graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle, McArthur earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He is also a registered professional engineer in Oregon.

McArthur resides in Hillsboro, Ore., with his wife, JoAnn, and enjoys golfing and spending time at the beach. He is a board member of the Western Energy Institute, the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve, and the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross. He also is a member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers.
