PGE Boardman Power Plant in Operating Condition after Repairs
PORTLAND, Ore., May 24, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Portland General Electric Company (NYSE:POR) today announced its coal-fired Boardman Power Plant is now operational. The Boardman plant has been out of service since October 22, 2005, in order to make repairs to its turbine rotor and generator rotor.
"This outage was an extremely rare event for us," said Stephen Quennoz, Portland General Electric vice president of power supply. "Our Boardman plant has a low forced-outage rate when compared to similar generators in the United States and has been a reliable and efficient power plant overall."
Quennoz said that during the unplanned outage period, Portland General Electric's Boardman staff assessed and undertook cost-effective maintenance projects, which typically take place during the plant's scheduled maintenance period in the spring.
