Will oversee distribution, customer service and transmission
operations
PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Portland General Electric (NYSE:POR) announced today that Bill Nicholson
has been named senior vice president of the company's Customer Service,
Transmission & Distribution areas. Nicholson follows Steve Hawke, who is
retiring in July after 38 years with the company.
Nicholson, who joined the company in 1980 as a generation engineer, was
appointed to the company's executive team in 2007 and has served as vice
president of Distribution since 2009. During his 31 years at PGE, he has
served in a variety of capacities in Distribution and Generation.
"During more than three decades of service, Bill Nicholson has
demonstrated his commitment to serving PGE customers well, including a
strong focus on operational excellence and improving the reliability of
our system," said Jim Piro, president and CEO of PGE.
Nicholson has served on the boards of a number of community
organizations, including current service on the board of Associated
Oregon Industries, Oregon BEST (Built Environment & Sustainable
Technologies) and Earth Advantage, an Oregon-based nonprofit that
promotes sustainability and conservation by helping builders apply
green-building principles. A registered professional engineer, Nicholson
belongs to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the National
Society of Professional Engineers. He earned a bachelor's degree in
nuclear engineering from Oregon State University in 1980 and is a senior
fellow of the American Leadership Forum.
