Board of Directors

Maria Pope

Maria Pope is president and chief executive officer of Portland General Electric.

Under her leadership, PGE has accelerated the transition to a clean energy future by adding new wind, solar, and battery storage, strengthening the energy grid by integrating new technologies, and working with community stakeholders, customers, and policymakers to power the advancement of society. PGE has the largest voluntary renewable energy program in the country and was ranked the No. 1 utility in the Forrester U.S. Customer Experience Index.

Pope joined PGE in 2009 as chief financial officer and treasurer. She led PGE’s power generation facilities, wholesale power marketing and long-term resource strategy as senior vice president of Power Supply, Operations and Resource Strategy.

Prior to PGE, Pope was CFO of Mentor Graphics Corporation. She has held senior operating and finance positions in the technology, forest products and consumer products industries. She began her career in banking with Morgan Stanley.

Pope has two decades of board experience across diverse sectors. She is the past board chair and current lead independent director of Columbia Banking System, Inc. and the former board chair of the Oregon Business Council. She is the former chair of the Edison Electric Institute, the trade association that represents more than two hundred US investor-owned electric companies, as well as more than 60 international electricity providers. Pope represented the electric industry on the U.S. Secretary of Energy Advisory Board (SEAB), co-chaired the SEAB High-Tech and Data Center Working group and previously chaired the Electric Power Research Institute.

Pope is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business and Georgetown University.

James Torgerson

Until his retirement in 2020, Torgerson served as CEO of AVANGRID, Inc. Previously, he was president and CEO of UIL Holdings Corporation from 2006 to 2015, when it merged with Iberdrola USA to form AVANGRID. Before joining UIL Holdings, he was president, CEO and director of the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator, Inc. (MISO) from 2000 to 2006. He also previously served as chief financial officer for several natural gas and electric utilities including DPL, Inc., Puget Sound Energy and Washington Energy Company. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Yale-New Haven Hospital and Yale-New Haven Health System.

Robert Hoglund

Robert Hoglund is a seasoned financial executive with over two decades at Consolidated Edison, Inc., including 18+ years as Senior Vice President and CFO, where he oversaw growth from $43.4B to $66.3B in assets and modernized the Finance function. Prior to Con Edison, he spent 13+ years in investment banking as Managing Director of M&A at Citigroup/Salomon Brothers and in roles at Merrill Lynch, Barr Devlin & Company, and Morgan Stanley. Mr. Hoglund currently serves on the boards of Middlesex Water Company, South Jersey Industries, and several non-profit organizations including The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Orchestra of St. Luke’s. He holds Bachelor's, MBA, and JD degrees from the University of Virginia.

Marie Oh Huber

Marie Oh Huber has over 30 years of experience of strategic business, legal, regulatory and public policy experience in large global public technology companies. Until 2024, she served as senior vice president and chief legal officer of eBay, Inc. She joined eBay in 2015 from Agilent Technologies, where she served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary since 2009. She has strategic and operational experience across global technology, internet/e-commerce, consumer-facing, manufacturing and life sciences industries at scale in global Fortune 500 companies, including global M&A, geopolitical, regulatory, risk management and oversight, finance and capital allocation, corporate governance and sustainability. She serves on the Law Board at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and the Advisory Board, Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership at Columbia Law School.

Renée James

Renée J. James is the founder and former Chair and CEO of Portland based Ampere Computing, a semiconductor company which she sold in late 2025 to Softbank. Previously, she held a variety of leadership positions at Intel Corporation throughout her 28-year tenure,  serving as President of the company. James has many years of experience in the global manufacturing of semiconductors as well as hardware and software development. She holds a BA and MBA from the University of Oregon. She currently serves on the board of Citigroup, Inc. and is the Co-Chair of the Oregon Prosperity Council created in 2026 by Governor Kotek to accelerate Oregon’s economy.

Michael Lewis

Michael Lewis has more than 35 years of experience in electric utility operations. Lewis served as interim president of Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) from August to December 2020. During that time, he oversaw PG&E’s gas and electric operations including wildfire prevention and response efforts, grid resiliency initiatives, vegetation management programs and emergency preparedness. Mr. Lewis has held several senior executive positions at Duke Energy as well as Progress Energy Florida. He is currently on the boards of Newpark Resources, Inc., Kinross Gold Corporation, Osmose Utilities Services, and serves as senior advisor for TRC Consulting, Engineering and Construction.

Michael Millegan is the Founder and CEO of Millegan Advisory Group 3 LLC where he advises early-stage companies on strategy that drives technology innovation and shareholder value since 2018. Previously, he held a variety of executive leadership and management positions, including president of Verizon Global Wholesale Group, where he was responsible for $11 billion in sales revenue, 13,000 employees and $1 billion in annual capital spending. Millegan is on the board of Axis Capital Holdings, Wireless Telecom Group, Inc., the Virginia Mason Foundation and Network Wireless Solutions.
John O’Leary portrait

John O’Leary has three decades of experience in the transportation and mobility sector. As the current President and Chief Executive Officer of Daimler Truck North America LLC, Mr. O’Leary has strong ties to the Portland, Oregon, business community. He has served in a variety of leadership roles at Daimler throughout his over 20-year tenure there, including Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for eight years, as well as serving as Chief Transformation Officer for Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Stuttgart, Germany. As CEO, Mr. O’Leary spearheads Daimler’s electrification and zero-emission technology initiatives in North America. Mr. O’Leary currently serves on the board of Daimler Truck Holding AG, the German parent company of Daimler Truck North America LLC, and is chairman of the board of Greenlane, a joint venture started by Daimler, BlackRock, and NextEra Energy to develop zero-emission infrastructure in the United States.

Patricia S. Pineda

Pat Pineda has held diverse leadership roles in human resources, marketing, legal, communications, philanthropy and stakeholder relations. Prior to her retirement, Pat was the Group Vice President, Hispanic Business Strategy at Toyota Motor North America, Inc. Previously, Pat was the Group Vice President, National Philanthropy, and also Group Vice President, Corporate Communications/ Administration and General Counsel. Pat began her career at New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc., where she held leadership positions in Human Resources, Legal, and Government and Environmental Affairs. Pineda is the founder and Chair emeritus of The Latino Corporate Directors Association, and currently sits on the boards of Frontier Group Holdings, Inc. and Omnicom Group.

Benjamin Felton

Benjamin (Ben) Felton leads PGE’s operations groups, including generation, transmission and distribution operations, wildfire and operational compliance, engineering, project management, environmental, corporate security, corporate safety, supply chain, real estate services and other operations-focused areas.

Felton joined PGE in 2023 and has more than 30 years of energy industry experience. He has held a variety of senior leadership positions including as senior vice president of Energy Supply at DTE, senior vice president of Electric Operations and vice president of Power Delivery at NIPSCO a subsidiary of NiSource, and executive director of Electric Systems Operations and Maintenance at Consumers Energy.

Angelica Espinosa

Angelica Espinosa leads PGE's corporate affairs functions where she oversees the company's legal and regulatory affairs, corporate governance, compliance initiatives, public policy and sustainability teams, as well as PGE's long term resource planning process.

She joined PGE in 2021 as Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary with a focus on board governance, power operations structuring and origination. Ms. Espinosa has over 20 years of experience in complex business environments with deep expertise in regulated industries including the utility industry. She has held several senior positions in the energy industry and has significant experience in the US and international markets. She has led international legal teams and has previously served as Corporate Secretary and Chief Risk Officer, as well as leading power operations and structuring and origination of transactions in the utility sector. Before joining PGE, she held leadership positions at Sempra Energy and General Electric. Ms. Espinosa has been serving as Board Chair of the PGE Foundation since 2024.

John McFarland

John McFarland leads PGE’s commercial,  customer, and digital technology groups, including origination, structuring, power operations, customer service, energy products, key account management, and information technology.
 

McFarland rejoined PGE in 2024 and has over 20 years of experience across the Energy, Automotive, and Consumer Products industries with a focus on general management, operations, and product development. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of FirstElement Fuel Inc. and held leadership positions at General Motors and Procter & Gamble. Mr. McFarland served as PGE’s Chief Customer Officer from 2019-2022.

Joe Trpik portrait

Joe Trpik leads PGE’s accounting, finance, tax and investor relations efforts.

Trpik joined PGE in 2023 with deep expertise in financial planning and analysis, capital allocation, cost management, risk management, financial systems, accounting, tax and investor communications, among other functions. Prior to joining PGE, he served over 20 years in senior leadership positions with Exelon - one of the nation’s largest utilities – including as senior vice president and chief accounting officer.

Juan Gallegos

Juan Gallegos oversees PGE's people operations and leads the organization’s work to cultivate a high-performing, engaged workforce.

He joined PGE in 2025 as Chief Human Resources Officer and vice president, People and Culture. Gallegos has 20 years of human resources experience leading strategic initiatives, enhancing employee engagement and optimizing HR operations. Prior to PGE, Gallegos held leadership positions at Clearway Energy, Cornerstone Building Brands and Amazon.com. Gallegos is also a proud veteran having served in the United States Army, Infantry in support of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Debbie Powell

Debbie Powell oversees day-to-day utility operations, leading PGE’s safety, transmission and distribution, renewable and thermal power generation, vegetation management, and emergency management teams.

Powell joined PGE in 2024 with nearly 30 years of energy industry and military experience. Powell spent the last decade in various senior leadership roles at Pacific Gas & Electric where she previously served as vice president of Electric Operations Asset & Risk Management, Community Wildfire Safety Program and vice president of Power Generation.

Kristen Sheeran

Kristen Sheeran leads PGE’s government affairs, resource planning, community engagement, corporate social responsibility, energy savings and affordability, and sustainability teams.

Sheeran joined PGE in 2021 after four years as energy and climate advisor to Governor Kate Brown, where she helped lead seminal policy around clean energy, climate, and transportation. She has over 20 years of energy sector experience with deep expertise in energy, climate, transportation, markets and regulation, economics and policy. Her extensive career has included leadership positions in government, non-profits, academia, and for-profit enterprises.

Martin Wyspianski

Martin Wyspianski leads PGE’s grid operations and planning, power market integration, energy risk management, and integrated resource planning functions.

Wyspianski joined PGE in 2025 and has over 25 years of experience in energy and technology. Before joining PGE, he spent over 18 years with Pacific Gas and Electric Company in a variety of leadership roles in energy procurement and trading, risk management and most recently serving as Vice President of Electric Engineering, Electric Asset Management where he led grid planning and asset management. He previously held positions at Boston Millennia Partners and Towers Watson.
